A prosecutor asked Sam Bankman-Fried about testimony by former FTX software developer Adam Yedidia.
Earlier in the trial, Yedidia told jurors that after fixing an accounting bug in the summer of 2022, he warned the crypto entrepreneur that Alameda Research owed $8 billion to FTX.
“I don’t remember him saying it that way,” Bankman-Fried said today. The answer rankled U.S. District Judge Lewis Kapaln, who has been frustrated at times by Bankman-Fried’s evasiveness.
“Mr. Bankman-Fried, did he tell you in words or in substance after the bug was fixed that Alameda still owed $8 billion?” Kaplan interjected.
“I don’t recall it being on or around that day in words or substance,” Bankman-Fried replied.
“I didn’t ask you about that day,” Kaplan said.
“Oh I apologize. Eventually, yes,” said Bankman-Fried, who maintains he didn’t get concrete knowledge of the $8 billion hole until the fall of 2022.
